Everywhere you look at on social media, you can see holidaymakers sharing their travel experiences. It has become such a popular social behaviour that some of the most popular Instagram profiles are exactly of people sharing their travel endeavors with the world. With hotels and holiday destinations being directly present in each visual post made at their premises, the organic reach to new followers and potential customers is even more viable.
Instagram, photo-sharing app, recently announced that it will introduce a Book button so that users can book a holiday in the places they browse in their feed, all within the mobile interface. This will be a game-changer for the hospitality industry and would make the mundane routine of scrolling through dreamy holiday destinations a reality for many users.
These new developments are yet another proof that social media has an immense impact on the decisions of customers at every stage of their purchase journey. From the spark of interest for a destination, browsing similar content and researching, to booking the holiday, staying there and leaving a review afterward, social media content takes part in forming the preferences of users in each step of the way. Businesses, on the other hand, need to make sure that their hotel or restaurant is presented in the best authentic light which motivates users engaging with content to book a stay with them.
Social media marketing allows you to create a good online reputation and directly connect with holidaymakers. Social channels are well-rounded marketing platforms where you can talk to previous guests, upcoming guests and potential guests all at once. Not to mention it is the largest organic network and best of all – it is free! With a bit of dedication and patience, each business can increase the numbers of visitors and achieve a sustainable flow of revenue from them (see our article on tactics for increasing visitors to physical businesses here).
We’ll talk more about hotels and hospitality businesses can utilize the powers of social media at our event, ”What is next?”, on 30 May. See the full programme of talks and sign up here:
