At the beginning of this month, Google announced a revolutionary approach: simultaneously utilizing text and images. Through the multi-search feature in Lens, you can transcend the limitations of the search bar. The technology behind this multi-search is an AI-powered system that can comprehend information in diverse formats such as text, photos, and videos. It can establish connections and insights between topics, concepts, and ideas. Google has integrated this system into its Google Lens visual search functionality, enabling users to augment their visual search queries with text.
Meta has launched a messaging tool for creators and this feature will allow creators to send messages to all their followers at once in a one-way group chat format. While followers can react to content and participate in polls, they cannot write back. The tool’s objective is to enable creators to keep their followers informed about the latest updates and behind-the-scenes moments using various media formats such as text, photo, video, voice notes, and polls. It’s coming up for select creators in the U.S. and will expand the feature in the following months.
There is no wonder that TikTok users are increasingly referring to the app as a sort of search engine, especially the younger generations that are used to online referential and shopping. This new In-stream shopping enables a shop overview and a direct purchase option, all within the app itself, as opposed to the regular TikTok shop process, which reverts users back to the retailer’s website to convert. For now, it has been launched in the US but is expected to be live for all international users soon.
Last week Meta Platforms announced that a new monthly subscription service will be introduced to the users. Meta Verified should let users verify their accounts using a government ID and get a blue badge. This option would enable content creators to grow and build communities. For starters, it will cost $11.99 per month on the web or $14.99 a month on Apple’s iOS system and Android. After Twitter, this option will now cover almost all social media platforms, with Snapchat and Telegram launching subscriptions at the end of last year.
YouTube is introducing a new approach to using Shorts as part of its community engagement process, and it also wants to support Shorts producers by assisting them in getting more subscribers through their videos. Creators now have the choice to respond to a comment with a little video rather than another written message, and the original comment is instantly highlighted in a sticker in the new short. By allowing users to reply with a Short in the comments stream, YouTube is attempting to make Shorts a more responsive engagement option.
Google Cloud has launched a range of updated and new artificial intelligence (AI) technologies designed to help retailers in enhancing their in-store inventory shelf-checking, online shopping, and providing personalized searches and recommendations. These advances are set to revolutionize the online shopping experience, making it more intuitive and personalized for all users. Moreover, this AI technology will enable retailers to create more modern, faster, and fulfilling online browsing and product discovery experiences for their customers. One such innovation is Google Cloud’s new AI-driven personalization capability that customizes search results and browsing options on a retailer’s website for each individual customer.
